Enbridge delivers three assessments for enhancing protection
Enbridge has delivered to the State of Michigan three assessments evaluating technologies and actions aimed at safeguarding the environment and energy infrastructure. The assessments are part of our November 2017 agreement between Enbridge and the State, and will be used to help inform discussions on the future of Line 5 and energy infrastructure in Michigan.
The assessments are:
- Evaluation of underwater technologies to enhance leak detection and technologies to assess coating condition of the dual pipelines
- Evaluation and implementation of measures to mitigate potential vessel anchor strike
- Evaluation of Line 5 water crossings other than at the Straits
These assessments are the result of the coordinated efforts between State-appointed experts, independent consultants and Enbridge.
Line 5 is a critical link in the Straits of Mackinac—connecting Michigan’s two peninsulas to safely and reliably deliver the energy Michigan families and businesses rely on every day.
